I said I'd recap my post-trailer poll, so here's the final tally:

Things We Predicted That Did, In Fact, Occur:
Ten licked something! -- as predicted by 18 (56.5%) of you

Actually, most people survived, including Christina.
Dramatic Black Lady was not eaten by a stingray as predicted by a whole whopping 87.5% of us -- she lives to be dramatic and foreshadow-y another day.
No one glowed, was secretly evil, or was a particularly assholeish rich person.
There was no conclusive evidence that the Daleks did it. But probably they did. Because of the Time War.

Anyway, in more general news:

Christina was kind of very annoying, all of her lines felt like really lame action movies. She reminded me of the movie The Avengers and I haven't even seen that since I was like 8. I'm excited for the Christmas specials when we will get a companion who doesn't want to bone the Doctor. I know he is slim and a little bit foxy, but omg. Just sayin'.

I did, however, REALLY enjoy the Fly People. Anything that requires Ten to speak alien is A+, and they entertained me. I was sad that they died because I liked them more than any of the human cast, ngl.

The entire fangirling phonecall with UNIT was awesome. Also, 'sup UNIT lady from parallel universe, how you doin'? Also also, I like how UNIT is a multi-purpose "are they good? are they bad?" organisation. BRB TORTURIN' TOSH FOR NO REASON OWAIT HELPING THE DOCTOR SAVE THE UNIVERSE OWAIT SCREW THE DOCTOR LET'S CLOSE THE WORMHOLE OWAIT SAVIN' UR ASSES FROM A GIANT SHOOTY SPIDER STAR. Whatevs UNIT, whatevs.

I liked Ten's blatant refusal to take ~Lady Christina~ with him. We've seen him refuse people before but usually his reasoning was secretly "you are not young or hot enough" (hello VOTD) instead of "I NEED TO BE ALONE WITH MY SNOW PATROL OKAY". I like the latter better. ALSO, DONNA REFERENCE FTMFW. Donnnaaaa D:

As for the Oodlike ~your song must end soon~ -- well, we knew that. And I knew the Master was coming back too, but I was still quite delighted by it. HE WILL KNOCK FOUR TIMES. HE IS RETURNING. THERE IS SOMETHING ON YOUR BACK. BADWOLFTORCHWOODHAROLDSAXON. I love this show's foreshadowing, it's fun.

I am totally disinterested in Waters of Mars, though. CHRISTMAS SPECIALS NOW PLZ OMG.

YES to everything above (I'm going to have to see the episode once more for better nitpicking).

Lady Croft Cassandra was Mary Sueish, but I didn't mind it so much (because this ALWAYS happens in specials). I chose to ignore most parts of it and focus on the good stuff. I now have an irrational love for geeky mad scientists with huge ears. I LOVED Erisa Magumbo and her berets. Also dramatic black lady was so dramatic, no one will ever stand a chance against her.

NGHNGH THE MASTER IS COMING BACK?! :D :D :D I did not know this, but I did see some spoiler-pics (unfortunately) and they left me sort of disappointed, IDK.

Yeah she was a huge Sue. I didn't like her, but I didn't hate her enugh for it to ruin anything. Mostly because I knew she didn't stick around, so I was like WUTEV. Aw Malcolm was endearing hehehe.

Magumbo was a bamf, actually. Plus she wasi n Turn Left and everything in Turn Left is made of 100% win so she must be as well.

YES. YES HE IS. He's the one Dramatic Black Lady foreshadows at the end of the special! KNOCK FOUR TIMES, MAN. And the background music is drums. Teehee I love this show's foreshadowing, it's so delightful.

Oh dear. None of the spoilers I've heard have disappointed me so far but I'm trying to stop looking them up.

Anyway I have now re-watched it and I'm still not as annoyed by her as you lot, simply because I couldn't care less about the character (and I still think Ryan is too prettiful to hate). Mostly I just see her attempts at seducing the Doctor very amusing, like a kid who's in love with the boyfriend of her big sister.

I kind of got the feeling like The Doctor sees her as some sort of protégé that he'd encourage to be brilliant but in the end doesn't take all that seriously. In my personal canon, if she were to stick around longer, he'd be impressed by her because she's intelligent but in the end too annoyed by her aristocracy to ever be attached to her.

I dunno I kind of liked that she was snobbish, loved herself and thought she was the bee's knees, because that's what a rich brat is like. Also she'd never have the stones to face the Master or an entire fleet of Daleks...

I would be very much more interested in Christina if she were a lesbian tbh. We've had the gay men, what about the gay women? It'd be awesome for Ten to expect a kiss, and for the Sue in question to go all "No thanks Skinny, I like 'em curvy and of the same sex".

Oh those were drums? I thought they were double heart-beats (which I guess would serve the same purpose or you know imply something Ten2/Donna). Although we know Donna is in, I hope Ten2 isn't because it'd be weird if he was and not Rose and we're kind of done with her story aren't we?

Well again I clicked on a link by accident and there's a person in the specials that I do not like. *shrug* Kind of made me a little sad.

I did feel like they wouldn't have gotten on very well in the long run, which is maybe why I was irritated that they juxtaposed that with the both of them being like LOL WE'RE THE BEST TEAM EVER every ten minutes. Because I was like ...but you're not. I do think Ten was kind of secretly lulzing at her being like OH I AM RICH BUT I STEAL FOR THE THRILL!!! in the way adults tend to giggle at rebellious 15-year-olds. Like, "yeah, whatever you say, kid. Have a cookie Easter egg".

Also she'd never have the stones to face the Master or an entire fleet of Daleks... Trufax.

I don't like one of the characters because of bad acting :/ I cringe a little bit at most scenes with the character in it. That apparently makes me snobbish and wrong though, so perhaps it's not so bad after all. I just have to wait and see!

Yeah. She didn't really have the compassion that the Doctor prizes so highly, either -- the whole planet has been devoured and turned to dust and she can't get over the fact that it's in her hair. I know even Donna was kind of flighty in TRB and I know most people didn't like her when that aired, but she was still concerned for others -- when the Killer Christmas Tree strikes again she's worried about people who were hurt, and she stands in front of the Doctor when everyone starts pointing guns at him. I guess if Christina were full-time they'd expand on making her less selfish etc, but still. Bleh.

HAHAHA. But geeks can only get the ladies if they look like David Tennant, apparently. Possibly Matt Smith will continue the trend.

OMG SO MUCH RIVER FAIL but I am now convinced she was just an acid-induced hallucination, because she totally isn't in the specials.

I love the Master, I am pumped for him.

I didn't see TRB until after I saw PiC. But I adore Runaway Bride now, it' smy favourite of the Christmas specials I think. Maybe. I also adore TCI, so it's hard to say.

I know, I can't decide because on one hand, TEN'S FIRST EPISODE. THE LION KING. JACKIE, MICKEY AND ROSE! EVIL SANTAS! but on the other hand... DONNA! BEAUTIFUL POST-DOOMSDAY ANGST (what i like it, don't judge)! EVIL SANTAS! I don't know which I prefer but I love them both.

This is true. A tolerance for angst is pretty crucial. When people get upset over how emo Ten is I'm like "but... but... this show has always been emo." I guess s2 was a bit of a reprieve, btu Nine was emo, and s2 ended with huge amounts of emo, so I don't know why they're surprised that it's still emo.

Plus, Ten's got some pretty legit reasons to be emo.
