So despite the fact that the Morrisey plotline was easy to work out (though I give them props for having Ten figure it out before the 20 minute mark, because seriously, I had it at like ten) and the cybershades are basically mops with metal masks and Optimus Prime tried to destroy London, I enjoyed it. If you think about it, it's not really much more cracktastic than Voyage of the Damned was. The Jackson/Doctor dynamic was fun and Rosita punching out red dress lady was A+, even if it was pretty much the only thing of notice that Rosita did.

I also think it might be the second least angsty Christmas special thus far, which is rare. WHAT? A CHRISTMAS DINNER? SRSLY? NO HANDBRAKES? REAL SNOW THAT IS NOT THE ASH OF SOME CORPSE OR OTHER SIGN OF DESTRUCTION? WHAT? Of course it was tempered by some nice use of x-treme Doctor Who-style angst and the implication that the Doctor has nothing to live for, but still, turkey's basically the happiest we've had since Christmas Invasion, so I'll take what I can get.

Um, I've got nothin' else, really. IT AMUSED ME, that's all I ask.

To the less geeky of my flist, MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I don't know, actually. I think it's a shortened series this year though, only like 6 episodes or something, like a miniseries. BECAUSE THE BBC LOVES THEIR MINISERIES

they just want the timeline to be compatible with DW. Bastards.

That and I don't know if Torchwood does very well in the ratings. From what I understand it's uncertain if there'll be a series after the third one or not.

NEEDS MOAR MARTHA AND MICKEY.I still don't know if Freema's actually fired or not, I wish I knew because Martha and Mickey are what will save Torchwood, otherwise it'll just get increasingly worse.

Although if the government blows up the hub, that's A+. I assume the only reason the Master never did was because he figured it would be more loltastic to watch them almost destroy the world on their own time.

Oh I see....but why we Freema be hired?

They're the only things that could save it, since I doubt that anyone wants to watch Jack, Gwen, and Ianto flail around Cardiff. lus they fill the roles of Doctor and Computer Geek, so.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS IT IS THE BRIGHT SPOT IN ALL THE DARKNESS

She took a job on BBC's rival company, so apparently she got fired. Or she turned down Torchwood to take the other job (I think it's like, Law and Order: BRITAIN). But sometimes I hear that's not true, so idk.

But yeah, they do fill the gaps left by Tosh and Owen nicely. AND THEY'D BE AWESOME. they'd be the only ones saving Torchwood from epic fail. I want Mickey to be all BITCHES PLZ I'V EBEEN WORKING FOR TORCHWOOD LONGER THAN ANY OF YOU ASSHOLES. except Jack, who doesn't count because he's immortal.

I KNOW. SO MUCH WIN.

And in the comment I replied to I meant to type "fired" instead of "hired." Stupid fingers.

IT IS OFFENSIVE
part of me is offended by it, because while it is their lives, they sign up to portray characters who people do derive enjoyment out and become amotionally attached to if they have no other outlets for escapism, and then just pulling out (that's what she said) in the middle of character arc and stuff just seems disrespectful.

Does that make me a fanbrat? IS IT MY FAULT THAT I LOVE MARTHA?

Answer: yes and yes

but still *pouts*

Well I dunno what the situation is, I imagine her arc is finished on Doctor Who (maybe a few cameos, but idk) so it's not like she just completely disappeared in the middle of... stuff.

I think Torchwood is pretty much beyond saving, but I do want Martha and Mickey on it. I haven't heard ANYTHING about Mickey being there or not, and if he's not then ... like... what was the point of him staying in that first universe anyway? LIRL Unless he like, hangs out with Ten sometimes, but that seems unlikely. I guess they could like, hate on Handy together, but...

I can see Ten and Mickey sitting in the TARDIS with their backs against that cosole thingy, beers in hand with ahuge amount of chocolate between them, being like "ohmigod I hate him soo much I mean who does that guy think he is? His hair is so stupid." "Yeah, his hair is stupid. Stupid clone with his stupid hair..."

Mickey would be like WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT ONE HEART, I AHVE ONE HEART AND SHE DIDN'T SEEM VERY IMPRESSED and Ten would just be like STUPID GENOCIDAL CLONE STEALING MY WOMAN AND 'SPLODING DONNA'S BRAIN :| :| :| :|

meanwhile Rose, Handy and alt!Donna live bamf-ily ever after

I love this show so much, omfg.

When I bought season 2 and 4 yesterday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY/MERRY CHRISTMAS, ME) my dad was like "what did you order?" and I was like "...*mumble doctor who mumble*" and he goes "man, who would've known you'd be so into sci-fi..." and so I was like 'IF IT'S ANYONE'S FAULT IT'S YOURS"

Yeah, it's his fault that you're going to die maturbating to sci fi....
