Haven't made a public/fandomy post in a while so here goes!

Has anyone ever watched that show "The Moment of Truth"? I just saw about ten minutes of it and I can't get my head around how stupid it is. For those who are unaware, here's what I understand the premise is: someone agrees to answer X number of obscenely personal questions while connected to a lie detector. The show then "randomly" selects 1/2X of those questions to ask them on air. If they answer everything honestly (and basically don't chicken out by refusing to answer or lying) they get half a mill. Questions include "have you cheated on your current girlfriend?" and other life-shattering inquiries. I just... I don't get it. Okay, so you could win half a million (before taxes) -- but you also potentially destroy all your interpersonal relationships. Why? Why? And of course the audience boos angrily whenever someone answers "yes" to a bad question, and of course there's a woman who goes "THAT ANSWER IS ... [insert unneccessarily long pause for dramatics].... TRUE..." and of course the show picks all the questions where the answer was embarassing.

Did I mention I hate reality TV and game shows?

Except The Mole. Fuck yes, the Mole was so awesome.

What else? For anyone who's seen Hairspray or had to listen to the credits music constantly for five months and watches Doctor Who: this is so comically appropriate.

Also the first chapter of Breaking Dawn is failtastic. All I want from Breaking Dawn now is for Jacob and Tanya to hook up and be totally awesome, leaving Edward and Bella to wallow in their failure marital bliss. And lawl, northern Canada. Sup Jake?

Whatever muse I once had has apparently died a violent death. It's like pulling teeth to write five coherent sentences, I swear. It's basically to the point I don't even want to write. I don't know, but it sucks. I also fail at writing commitments because of it -- I didn't finish [livejournal.com profile] anythingbutgrey's birthday fic on time, I've owed [livejournal.com profile] pirate_smile a letter for like ninety years, and I only just finished the letter I've owed [livejournal.com profile] latine for one hundred years. Not to mention Silly Love Songs is rolling in a pit of failure, haha.

I also mean to write a Harry/Hermione fic for [livejournal.com profile] afterthree's "someting unexpected" challenge, because coming from me there's nothing more unexpected than an uncanon shippy fic about the Trio, wtf.

Anyway, in the spirit of attempting to kick myself into gear, here's a meme:

Reply with a character or pairing i'm familiar with and i'll write a few sentences of fic.

Note the "few sentence" part; I promise nothing complete or whole in any form, I just kinda wanna... force myself to write stuff. Yeaah. And if you happen to give me a Twilight pairing, please note that I have never, ever written Twilight before because that would mean I'd have to actually put thought into Smeyer's characters.

I hate most reality TV shows. I feel like they are bringing TV down.

Breaking Dawn fails at life. The whole time I read it all I wanted to do was punch something. I have no idea why these books are so popular.

And for the meme: Jim/Pam.

Yeah I'm the same. My hatred is intense and almost irrational, ha.

Omfg I know. I can't even explain it because I will read Breaking Dawn, if only to know what everyone on my flist is talking about, but it's literally just... so... bad.

Jim/Pam, you say? It'll be a challenge as I've never written Office fic before.

Omg that youtube video. Just...wow. How do you find this stuff? Honestly...I still like the satge version of that song better, though.

Hmm...gee, I wonder what pairing I'm going to ask you to write? Hmm.....R/Hr plzkthx.

It's called... being bored and spending an inordinate amount of time on youtube? LIRL I've spent even MORE time there since Facebook got boring and UR slowed down so much. Then it's like, one video leads to another leads to another leads to Lion King with Doctor Who sounds dubbed over. LIRL

And believe it or not, tat video is actually slightly logical if you've seen the show. Slightly.

Hahaha R/Hr. THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE: THE PRIMARY CANON SHIP.

That Master video is so full of win, I can hardly breathe. John Simm set to Hairspray is wrong in the best way. You'd never think he actually danced so much in the actual episods. hah.

Though I'm new here....would you write a bit of Remus/Tonks? :D

I know, isn't it great? Who knew an anti-prejudice song would be so appropriate for a megalomaniac alien.

Sure! Honestly that's the easiest pairing anyone's given me so far, so well done, lol.

WORD, yes, I hate reality shows too. ...Well, I don't hate the purposefully-cheesy ones. Like, you're allowed to be bad if you're aware of your badness and you're sort of cheeky about it, like Tila Tequila and stuff. But I enjoy those ironically. And I love Jeopardy and the Feud, but they're classics. No other game shows. >_____>

Wait, is that the last Twilight book? Or does the last one come out later this summer? I'm very out of it when it comes to them. ;)

And I def. know what you mean about the writers'-block-type stuff. D: D:

Ironic TV shows are always fun; it's why I watch Degrassi. Game shows can be tolerable but boring in my opinion (like Jeopardy) or just downright terrible, and this one definitely is downright terrible.

Breaking Dwan is the last Twilight book, yeah, and it comes out later this summer, but the first chapter is in the "special edition" of the previous book, and the special edition just got leaked. Yep.

UGH WRITER'S BLOCK IS TERRIBLE.

OMG I KNOW RIGHT?!
i read it because my sister, who loves the books, said it was like a badly written fanfic. I actually laughed while reading it. i mean, she actually WROTE SIGH? not as in...she sighed, but as in. blabhabla. sigh
i had to laugh so hard when i read that. This book is gonna suck so much

&that show does sound ridiculous
is the mole that there is a group of people who have to do all these tasks to collect money and theres one person who has to sabotage it? because we have that here too and its freakin' awesome. The only reality shows i watch are americas next top model (because of all the drama) & project runway (make it work!)

From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/
I grow quite weary of Bella's fanficcy, pretentious internal monologue, too. Breaking Dawn IS gonna suck.

AND YES THAT'S THE MOLE, HAHAHA, I love that show. At the moment I don't watch any reality TV shows but when the Mole comes back I'm totally watching it.

Ugh yes, me too. Basically, i hate bella. And edward. And her mother was SOOO oc in that chapter! it was like...all of a sudden she APPLAUDS it? what the hell? And her father didnt even try to beat up edward. LAMEEE
oh well
I'll probably read it for laughs. And to mock it. And the fans. teehee

omg i love that show. The tasks they get are always so complicated and they really have to work together and stuff. fun fun. and how everyone's obsessing about who the mole is. it should come back here. but we just had a season so itll probably be a while >

I hate Bella and Edward too. Bella more than Edward, but pretty much both of them. OMFG I KNOW! I wanted Renee and Charlie to freak out, but instead they did NOTHING. It was like the worst example of parenting I've ever seen. Faaaaail.

haha I know! And I love trying to figure out who the Mole is. There hasn't been a season here for like... six years or something, but apparently a new one's coming out this month or next month, I am excited.

If my mother would do that, id scream " WHY DONT YOU LOVE ME" and cry for 2 days. Or something.
i hate how overprotective edward is. Seriously, loser. And how bella was all depressed and like, wanted to kill herself because he left. GET A FREAKING LIFE!

& as for the fic, i would be very happy eith just a few lines of harry/ginny (how predictable) when you have the time =)

I loved the part about bella's new car and her happy place in the BD chapter

From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/
Hahaha no problem, I figured someone else would get a good laugh out of it.

I found it hilarious that Edward bought her the most secure car he could think of, though I would have preferred it if Smeyer had just stopped with the line about him having a laugh with his brothers, rather than her delving into the Edward/Bellaness of it all.

OH MY GOURD. That was awesome! The Master was probably one of my favorite villains if only for his lines and their delivery (obviously, it's much more than that but...well...for brevity's sake), but this was simply priceless! Thanks for sharing (and I assure you, I'll be passing along the Doctor Who/Hairspray love shortly myself).

Date: 2008-05-28 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/
The Master was completely hilarious. I'm kind of inclined to rewatch those episodes just for his sheer badassery, because at the time I think I was too distracted to appreciate it fully. The video itself just never fails to entertain me -- I was lost 'till I heard the drums then I found my way? Awesome.

The boardroom scene before he gasses them always puts me in stitches! It's a little scary how little I care that those people (fictional or no) died thanks to his antics. XD

Definitely give them another watch. ;]

I tried to youtube the part where he watches Teletubbies because I remember it being fantastic, but youutube let me down. Quite disappointing, really.

Yeah I think I will. I'll probably end up rewatching Last of the Time Lords/Sound of Drums and Human Nature/Family of Blood soon because a) the Master is badass, as discussed and b) I reeeally liked Human Nature/Family of Blood.

I mostly liked it because David Tennant's acting was wicked, but the Family was creepy too and I kept being like "hee! Love Actually boy!"

And I liked that thing about the girl in the mirror. Neat. And this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGzSz0KyNI).

I love how some of you are intentionally picking difficult pairings.

Even though I think Id di the same thing to Sara. OOPS.

Date: 2008-05-28 06:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirrea.livejournal.com
Well Lily/James would hardly be an exercise in writing for you, would it? *laughs* This would be easy stuff for Christy though, the Evil Overlord/Almost-EvilOverlord shipper that she is.

You can fulfill your Teddy/Gabrielle hypothetical ship while you're at it though :D Just for something easier-but-still-kinda-different. LIRL, I kind of also want to ask you to do a Sirius/Hand in honour of that Pink song, but it'd be gross, so no.

Date: 2008-05-28 08:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/
Yeah, but there's just something intimidating about Dumbledore and Grindelwald. They're geniuses in a time period I am not at all familiar with.

hahaha I told Sara to write Teddy/Gabrielle. COME ON IT'S A GREAT SHIP.

Date: 2008-05-29 06:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirrea.livejournal.com
LOL, I personally wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole, OR an eleven foot one. Screw that then. Give me some Sirius/Lily :D

IT IS. You know Gabrielle would strut it like the foxy chiquita that she is, and give Victoire a complex XD

Date: 2008-05-29 04:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/
Hahaha sweet, Sirius/Lily.

She SO would. Gabrielle is a babe, obviously.

Haha, I've never actually shipped or supported Sirius/Lily, but they would be hawt, I suppose. READING YOUR MINI-LINERS NOW.

Let's see, Kali...what would be a challenge for you? Nothing too hard (Dumbledore/Lemon Drops) or too easy (Lily/James)

How about some Dramione? Or Draco/Ginny. Something you don't normally do. Your choice of the two!

(This is also a challenge for me, seeing as I hate reading both of those pairings. =])

Date: 2008-05-30 06:23 am (UTC)

Draco/Ginny it is. Dramione makes baby Jesus cry.

Aw, don't worry about the Teddy/Toire loving. I need to talk about that with you, btw, whether we want to go the Remus-Lily way and have some dialogue or skip over the Quidditch match entirely.

Hmm...I'm in the mood for something funny. Marauders, sixth year, something to do with a clown, plzthx. (You don't have to do the clown - I threw that in for kicks.)
