In a fit of madness and possibly awesomeness, [livejournal.com profile] inksplotched, [livejournal.com profile] likeserendipity and I present:

[livejournal.com profile] atasteof! A Taste of Everything, a Multi-Fandom Recs Community.

A Taste of Everything will feature recs from a variety of fandoms with a variety of pairings and genres -- emphasis on (you guessed it) variety. Right now we're a team of three -- [livejournal.com profile] inksplotched will be reccing for Harry Potter, [livejournal.com profile] likeserendipity's in charge of Twilight and I'm your rep for Doctor Who. About 2-3 recs will be posted per week per fandom.

We're also looking to expand our fandomy horizons, so if you'd like to represent a fandom, or even suggest a fic in any fandom, let us know! We're particularly interested in finding people for the following fandoms:

  • The Office -- hurrah, [livejournal.com profile] miss_mishi!
  • Gossip Girl
  • Merlin
  • Supernatural
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Narnia -- welcome aboard [livejournal.com profile] popplewells!

...but if you're interested in another, feel free to apply here!

Watch us, apply, suggest a fic or simply look around.

Title: Revolution (3/3)
Rating: PG
Genre: Some fluff, some angst, some humour. Standard fare, really.
Characters/Pairings
: Ten2/Rose, alt!Donna, with guest appearances from the rest of the Tylers and Jake
Spoilers?: Through season 4
Summary: It's been a year to the day since Rose and her part-human Doctor wound up in Norway.
In this chapter: The Doctor feels guilty, Donna feels furious, and Rose attempts to keep the peace.
Excerpt: "“Like your mum did it with a Martian or something?”"

Author's note: This turned out a bit angstier than I previously anticipated, as well as longer. Also, more than a month between updates FAIL, I apologize, my excuse is that I had to write something for a fic exchange. And also I just suck.

As before, this is set in the same universe as Gingerbread, which introduces this version alt!Donna.

Previous Chapters: Part one is here, part two is here.

...Which I Have Established With Various Sources, Including [livejournal.com profile] callmepatsy and [livejournal.com profile] bazcat89:

  • Dwight Schrute runs a serious, discussion-oriented Harry Potter livejournal community with Edward Cullen.
  • Generally they disagree on most things, though; Dwight is in it for the plot, but Edward is in it for the shipping.
  • ...Edward leaves the community after the release of The Half-Blood Prince, because Ron is lewd, foul-mouthed and disrespectful of women, and Ginny is a tart. One is not meant to have so many relations prior to finding one's soulmate.
  • The Doctor was banned from this community early on due to his tendency to "accidentally" post spoilers.
  • ...sometimes several books early.
  • In his anger and defiance of rules, he also got Martha's account banned. Martha was more upset over the fact that he might find her filtered entries in which she complains about his wangsting over Rose.
  • The Doctor and Edward become fast friends during series 3/New Moon.
  • ...even though they each think the other is a whiny, emo bitch.
  • The Master intentionally posts spoilers without cuts. For everything. All the time.
  • Dwight discredits all of these spoilers as "ridiculous" and "impossible" and "an insult to the writers". When they turn out to be true, a small part of his soul dies.
  • The Master is this guy. He wears this shirt to the major releases of all the movies involved. M Night Shyamalan is his favourite director.
  • Most importantly, the Master leaked Midnight Sun.

Discuss.

Title: Good Taste
Rating: PG
Characers/Pairings: Eleven, Rose, and a dash of Ten2
Spoilers?: Um yeah for.. everything.
Summary: By her third lap past the bench, Rose is certain the man is staring at her.
Excerpt: “I think you’ll find people are notoriously bad at believing in things, even if that thing is right in front of them.”

Author's Note: Yeah I know, Eleven fic. Probably once series 5 starts this will look hilarious and awful, but until that time... free-for-all! Also, not like anyone's keeping score at home, but if they are, I promise I haven't totally abandoned Revolution; the third part's nearly done, but I wanted to write this first. A break, if you will.

So happy new year, all that good stuff. While I personally am not totally excited for 2009 in any real way, well, at least this way it probably won't disappoint me!

Mostly I am posting this for the benefit of people like [livejournal.com profile] bazcat89 who, unlike me, may not have a plethora of Doctor Who fans on their flist who have already posted this: They're announcing Eleven tomorrow!

Which I guess means if you're placing any bets you should probably do that now. Personally I'm pulling for Billie Piper, because nothing says love like stealing someone's body.

Title: Revolution (2/3)
In this chapter: Jackie gets new carpet, the Doctor and Donna consider their options, and Rose is forced to admit that she is perhaps not the best at spinning stories.
Excerpt: "Right now, she thinks you’re an alien-obsessed, half-mad scientist with way too much pride in his doctorate who’s just a teensy bit socially inept. Honestly, the truth is probably less strange than whatever explanation she’s got in her head at the moment."

Author's Note: Initially I intended this to just be two parts, but then part two took a lot longer than I expected, and it didn't really seem to make any sense to have part 2 be twice the length of part 1. So three parts it is.

As before, this is set in the same universe as Gingerbread, which introduces this version alt!Donna.

Part one is here.

I can give you at least one very good reason why exams at 2pm on December 22nd just shouldn't exist: no one cares enough to study anymore.

As a result I am passing on the lulz and the love for this Doctor Who Christmas Special Drinking Game from the creative/observant genius of [livejournal.com profile] goldy_dollar and [livejournal.com profile] mrv3000. I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] afterthree, [livejournal.com profile] callmepatsy and possibly [livejournal.com profile] christycorr & [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos.

Title: Revolution (1/2)
Rating: PG
Genre: Some fluff, some angst, some humour. Standard fare, really.
Characters/Pairings: Ten2/Rose, alt!Donna, with guest appearances from the rest of the Tylers and Jake
Spoilers?: Through season 4
Summary/Excerpt: It had been – or would be, in a few short hours -- an entire revolution of a parallel Earth around a parallel Sol, and the Doctor wasn’t sure what he was supposed to feel.

Author's Notes: A sequel (of sorts) to Gingerbread, which introduces the Donna Noble you'll find here... the Donna Noble who will feature much more in the second part, I promise.

There's a bus strike here and basically the whole city is dooooomed, because it's winter and exams are on and people who lack cars have no way to get anywhere. Also I have an exam tomorrow morning, but I am unconcerned and so [livejournal.com profile] bazcat89 and I are discussing Fanfiction Trope #87 - Excessively Crying Male.

Anyway, that leads me to this BURNING QUESTION I have for you, my friends:

[Poll #1312493]

ETA - As [livejournal.com profile] christycorr has pointed out I made a greivous error in forgetting THE TRAGIC DEMISE OF DOBBY, but I cannot edit it into the poll. You may show your support in the comments if you so choose.

Title: ourselves we find in the sea
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor/Rose, River, Donna, Martha, Mickey
Genre:: Angst, tiny bit of fluff
Spoilers?: Through season 4
Summary: The Doctor is not fond of beaches.
Excerpt: "Have you been to a beach? All the families and the stray beach balls and the creatures in the water waiting to nibble on your squishy human toes and the sand, do you realize how hard it is to get sand out of things?"

Author's Note: So apparently I've been super-productive in terms of fanfiction (and not so much in terms of studying, but that's another matter), apologies to my flist who keep getting spammed with this crap. The title and the bolded bits between sections are from the fantastic e e cummings' maggie and milly and molly and may. Also, who knew I'd ever write a fic with River Song in it? Probably not [livejournal.com profile] bazcat89.

Title: Extraordinary
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor, Donna and some brief mentions of the additional cast of "Midnight"
Genre: Angst-y gen, which is apparently my not so new favourite or something.
Spoilers?: Through "Midnight" (4x10)
Summary: Donna Noble is angry.
Excerpt: “They were scared,” was all the Doctor would say, and for once Donna found herself wishing he’d relinquish the moral high ground and admit that they were wrong, wrong, wrong, cowards and idiots and quite nearly murderers.

extraordinary )

Title: Some Sort of Time Lord Code
Rating: PG
Genre: Angst-y gen.
Characters/Pairings: Ten(/Rose), Donna(/Lee)
Spoilers?: Set between "Forest of the Dead" and "Midnight".
Summary: They're always all right, her and the Doctor.
Excerpt: She asks because she’s curious. She asks because she doesn’t know what "lost" really means. She asks because she remembers the crack in his voice when he’d said the girl’s name, and she asks because maybe the universe had its own plans for Rose, too.

Author's note: Because Donna ships Doctor/Rose. Trufax.

always all right )
thirty2flavors: (team tardis; alternate edition)
Title: Gingerbread
Rating: PG13
Characters/Pairings: Rose/Ten2, alt!Donna (and some ruminations on proper!Donna)
Genre: A bit of fluff, a bit of humour, a bit of angst, a tinier bit of action ...so, gen, then, lirl.
Summary: One obligation of being the Vitex heiress is attending the annual Vitex Christmas party; one obligation of being the Vitex heiress' very own Time Lord/human metacrisis is accompanying her to such events. There, the Doctor meets the newest addition to Vitex staff.

Excerpt: She takes a sip of her champagne and watches him over the rim of her glass, and there’s no friendly recognition, no sign that she knows him better than he’d like at times, nothing beyond the curiosity of a stranger.

Author's Notes: This ended up exponentially longer than I ever intended it to be, but it just kind of... kept going. Bonus points if you can identify the song the Doctor sings or the customer service rep Donna mentions (except you, Liz, you cheater). And kudos to [livejournal.com profile] the_tenzo, whose altDonna reaches levels of awesome my altDonna can only hope to achieve.

Title: The Chances We Create
Rating: PG
Genre: Gen
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor and Donna, with mentions of Lance and Donna/Lance
Spoilers?: Set between "Midnight" (4x10) and "Turn Left" (4x11)
Summary: The Doctor makes Donna coffee -- which prompts a discussion of the day they met.
Excerpt: She supposes they’re alike in that sense, her and the Doctor -- terrified of letting anyone see what’s underneath. You talk all the time, but you never say anything.

Title: Stuck With You
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Martha and the Doctor, with implications of Martha/Ten and Ten/Rose
Genre: Angst, gen, missing scene
Spoilers?: Set within "Blink", so not really.
Summary/Excerpt: Stuck again, she thinks; at least this time, she supposes, there isn’t a bizarre brand of amnesia to wrestle with.

Title: Chase Your Demons Away
Rating: PG, I guess? I used the word "kiss" which I guess is pretty scandalous.
Genre: Some angst, a bit of fluff. Which I guess is pretty standard "romance" if you want to call it that.
Length: ~3,000
Characters/Pairings: Ten2/Rose, Tony
Summary: Three weeks after Norway, the Doctor bonds with Tony Tyler over a shared affliction -- bad dreams.
Excerpt: Tony accepts the man in the hallway as the same flesh-and-blood action hero from all Rose’s stories, full stop. Tony doesn’t find the human warmth of the Doctor’s skin strange or send him pointed looks if he says something more Donna than Doctor. Tony probably doesn’t dream about beaches and pinstripes, either.
