I wrote this before the quasi-canon of the TARDIS coral came out, and so it remains the most melancholy Handy fic I've written, and doesn't mesh too well with most of my personal canon anymore. That said, he lends himself so well to angst, I can't quite resist, it's too fun. But I really wanted it to be bittersweet, not just bitter, and I think even without the TARDIS coral, he'd view having Rose as being worth it.
