fic exchange rec & a fandom meme

I still lack updates of any kind, though I did finish my fic for UR.org's Christmas fic exchange. Naturally it's still i posting and secrecy mode so I cannot link you to any fic of mine that may or may not be posted yet, but that's where I've been. Well, that and exams. I also have one tomorrow. I should study, yes? But it's philosophy and philosophy is stupid because a) even when you know it, you don't do really well and b) even when you don't know it you don't do really poorly. Or, well, that's been my experience, anyway. Huzzah for circular definitions and post hoc fallacy and blah blah...

Yeah, I'm enthused.

Also! The fic someone wrote for me was posted, so it is my duty to rec it here. Yay.

Title: The Final Stage
Rating: PG-13
Summary: 12 Grimmauld Place is nobody's idea of the perfect place for a party. Yet that is where Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Nymphadora Tonks find themselves spending the fourteenth anniversary of Voldemort's defeat. Overwhelmed by memories of that Halloween night, the three just want to drink brandy and forget.

It is basically exactly what I was going for, which is impressive since I am apparently incapable of writing a half-decent prompt. Yay, mystery author! (Yeah, no, I actually don't know who it was. Mysterrryyy. *waves fingers spookily*)

As another means of procrastination, here's a random meme! Yay! I don't know. Um, go wild. (Give me other ways to procrastinate!)

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you
dislike the character.

Monica's... hm. Sometimes she irritates me, but in general I prefer her to Rachel (though I prefer Phoebe to both of them) so I guess I am pretty neutral. I don't like the constant fat jokes, okay, we get it, you were fat, stfu, but at times her neurosis is pretty funny, yeah.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

Um yeah def.

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?

She doesn't really grip me emotionally, no. And I can't say that I really relate to her. apparently i can relate to no one. LIRL

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?

I have no idea wtf the Friends fandom is like, to be honest.

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

I guess Monica/Chandler is fine, even though Chandler is way cooler than Monica. I don't remember any of her other boyfriends and nothing else makes sense. (lirl, Monica/Joey?) I'm not really intrigued by her relationship with any character, no.

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?

The fat jokes. THE FAT JOKES. They make me die inside.

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

I don't think we'd be fast friends. We'd probably get along okay but that is about all.

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

Nope. Even within the series I prefer Chandler, Phoebe and Joey. (Although Monica beats Rachel, and definitely beats Ross. Damn I hate Ross.)

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?

No, I don't care about her.

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

I have no idea. /LIRL/

that is a really good summation of her I think. I agree with most of those points but she doesnt annoy me so much. But yeah I'm not a part of the fandom either

I LOVE ROSS!!! Honestly, he is what makes the show bearable for me.

Although I think the overall problem with that show is that over the years, the characters all became complete caricatures of their former selves. They started out with fairly believable personalities (for a sitcom, at least), but over the years, the writers began to deliberately exaggerate their quirks to such an intense degree that it just wasn't funny anymore. (Like the constant fat jokes.)

Anyway, I just totally over-analyzed a show I don't even like that much. Ha.

I liked Ross at the start, but by the end of the series he annoyed me -- the whole caricature thing, I guess. I see what you mean. I was never a vehement Friends fangirl; I liked it and I think it's funny but I'm not very invested in it or anything. I do agree with you, though.
