drabble: mistake, for nest_of_spiders

Title: Mistake
Word count: 151
Characters: Regulus Black
Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] nest_of_spiders, day 3 - In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.
Author's notes: Everyone else was writing about his death, sooo...

He collapsed the instant the door was shut and he was alone. Before he had the time to recognize what he was doing, his knees had given way and he found himself on the floor, his knees curled to his chest.

His breathing came in desperate, ragged gasps. He felt as though he’d run a mile rather than merely Apparated – he was covered in a cold sweat, his stomach was twisting madly, his hands were shaking and unsteady.

He had killed, for the first time.

He had killed.

It was a minute or two before he realized there were tears sliding down his face and dampening his collar and that the ragged breaths were sobs. They echoed in the emptiness of the flat and in a desperate bid for comfort, he wrapped his arms around his legs and rested his forehead on his knees.

This was not what he had wanted.

:(.

So, so sad, but I suspect Regulus must've gone through something very like this. Beautifully done.

Mmmhm. I think a great deal of the Death Eaters -- albeit some more than others -- must've gone through something similar to this. There aren't many people who can kill without a second thought.

Oh, so very compelling. This seems really plausible. You packed a great deal of intensity into a few paragraphs.

=) I'm glad you liked it.

*shivers* That was lovely, and so sad.

Thanks. Poor Regulus is always quite a sad character when I write him.

Oh, Reg. This was really raw and vital, brilliant.

Heee, thank you.

I can see your love to the comm from here, Kali. YAY FOR INSPIRATION.

Anyway, I liked this, but it's so short I can't really comment much about it.

YAY! INSPIRATION! Man I need new icons on lj. I'm so used to having five million on UR.

It is short. I think it's the shortest thing I have ever written + posted. Haha.

WHOO ICONS. I need some inspiration for those too. I'd like to make you one/more, if you'd like to.

It doesn't matter. You're posting more and more stuff and that's good for ME. I need your writing on daily basis.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_thirty2flavors/ 2007-04-04 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be pretty SWEET, although I can't give you any um amazing ideas because I .. am graphically inept/not that smart. I dunno man. I DUNNO. But it would be hot.

Haha. Writing daily is fun. I've got like five zillion oneshots that I am working on simultaneously and it's really quite confusing, actually. I add like two sentences to one, then I have a better idea for a different one, then I get another idea, and it's all complicated and messed up.

Thanks so much for writing a Regulus-centric fic dealing with his Deatheater-days. There definately aren't enough out there, and this one was just beautiful. I love how upset he is and how he's still a little kid fighting in a grown man's war.

That's the thing about all of them, really -- they're all so terribly, pathetically young. =) I'm glad you liked it.

Oh Regulus. =( What a heartbreaking image.
