So happy new year, all that good stuff. While I personally am not totally excited for 2009 in any real way, well, at least this way it probably won't disappoint me!

Mostly I am posting this for the benefit of people like bazcat89 who, unlike me, may not have a plethora of Doctor Who fans on their flist who have already posted this: They're announcing Eleven tomorrow!

Which I guess means if you're placing any bets you should probably do that now. Personally I'm pulling for Billie Piper, because nothing says love like stealing someone's body.

I'm excited. I mean, he's leaving, so we might as well find out who's replacing him. Plus yes, I see lots of IMDBing and Googling in our futures.

Yes, I do need to remind myself that it's not Eleven's fault that Ten is leaving. But then, I felt the same way when Ten took over for Nine so I assume I'll adjust.

As it stands right now I'm pretty much okay with it, if a bit curious. I think having an entire canon AU of Ten/Rose to play with placates me enough.

That said when that special actually airs I'm going to be freaking out for like a solid 50 minutes.

Yes, the fact that in my head Ten and Rose have an entire lifetime of alien fighting ahead of them does make me feel a little better...though I'm sure I'll still be a bit angry for awhile.

The hilarity of it being Billie Piper aside, I really hope they don't pick a woman,...that just does not seem right.

I'll probably be wary of Eleven for a while too, but I think I'd be more wary and fanbratty if Handy/Rose didn't exist.

I know, I don't want a woman. People can call me sexist all they like, it'd just be stupid. Anyhow, someone on my flist posted about a video/interview/something in which David Tennant discusses his replacement, and he uses male pronouns, so I am not too concerned.

No, I don't legitimately think it would be a woman...if only because they know perfectly well fandom would explode...and whoever the poor woman was would be letting herself in for all kinds of fan rage.

I just really want to like Eleven, probably because I haven't been this obsessed with a show in ages, and I don't want it to suddenly turn "meh" like all my past favorites eventually did...

LIRL YES the poor woman would really just be doomed. Speaking of female Doctors, though, I recommend this fic (http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=27203) for its cracky wonderfulness.

I know, I'll be very sad if Eleven sucks and the companion sucks and the show just starts to suck in general. At the moment I'm relatively confident it won't, but we'll see, I guess.

LIRL I thoroughly enjoyed it, though wheter that was in spite of or because of the crack I couldn't tell you. Plus the title is a Princess Bride reference so that won me over right away.

I tend to be an easily pleased fangirl, so I will just wait happily. I do expect Eleven's first couple episodes I will be like :| WTF WHO R U though. i never had that going from Nine to Ten because the first episode I watched was with Ten, so it'll be a first.

I did have that going from Nine to Ten a little bit...even though I loved Ten I was going "I'm sorry, I'm sure you're a very nice guy, but you are not the Doctor. BRING HIM BACK NOW PLEASE."

I actually had it a bit when I first watched "Rose", because i was totally oblivious to the fact that Eccleston was the Doctor in season 1, so when he first showed up I was like "wait, what?" I got over it pretty quickly though because Nine was awesome, but I was kind of waiting for Tennant to show up for all of season 1, so there was no regeneration shock there for me.
