I tend not to read most of the secrets because a good portion of them hit fandoms I'm not part of/shows I don't watch/etc. There's a few I don't watch but understand enough to be amused by the secrets -- like House -- but yeah, in general the Who-related secrets make me facepalm. It's funny how the comm skews your perception of a fandom if you're not part of it, though. I've never seen Supernatural but now when someone mentions it my mind jumps to CRAZY SEXISM!!, and since I found fandomsecrets before I started watching Doctor Who, for a while I thought it was totally normal to ship blonde girl/guy in leather while also shipping black girl/Barty Crouch Jr.

What always confuses me is that 99% of them have no reason to really be secrets. I've never understood why, for instance, if you ship something you can't just say you ship it. I guess in some instances -- if it's like, obscure incest non-con or whatever -- maybe you just don' want to seem creepy, but the ones that are like "I TELL EVERYONE I SHIP TEN/MARTHA BUT REALLY I SHIP MARTHA/JACK OMG D:" I'm just like... who are you lying to, and WHY?

...In short, yeah, it is quite sociologically fascinating.
